Wuhan University selected 12 people for the first batch of the "Thousands of People Plan"

Our press correspondent (reporter Yan Hang) informs that the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee published the "million plan" in October 2013 and February 2014. The first batch of personnel of all levels selected contains 12 names.

Among them, Professor Shi Chuang, of the Academy of Sciences, Professor Shu Hongbing Satellite Navigation and Positioning Technology Research Center, Professor Wang Xinyan Marx of the College of Life Sciences and Scientific Innovation and Technology, Professor Shen Zhuanghai, of the Institute of Philosophy, Professor Luo Yicheng School of Journalism and Communication, Professor Liu Yaolin College of Resources and Environmental Sciences, Yao Duanzheng of the School of Physical Science and Technology were selected. Other famous teachers, such as Professor Wang Hui of the School of Electronics and Information, Professor Shi Liangsheng, of the Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower, within the College of Life Science, Associate Professor Wang Yin Yi, Information Management Institute, Professor Wang Xiaoguang and Associate Professor Wu Dan were chosen in the youth talent section.

"Thousands of People Plan" is short for the "National High-Level Talents Special Support Plan". This key project is aimed at offering support to introduced overseas high-level talents "thousands of people plan" and in parallel, discovering and supporting domestic talent. Eleven (11) departments and institutions are involved in this plan: the Organization Department of the Central Committee, Department of Human Resources and Social Security, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the state owned Assets supervision and Administration Commission, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Academy of Engineering. The plan covers a period of 10 years, in which it strives to attract and support around 10,000 fresh talents and to promote research.

"Thousands of People Plan" supports personnel on three (3) levels. The first level is represented by the "outstanding" researchers and scientists, recognized for their work in science and technology, people who have already made great discoveries or other contributions to science or people with the potential to reach this world-class status. The plan supports attracting at number of 100 such talents. The second level is the "leading talent", namely, the innovative and entrepreneurial talent able to drive scientific and technological development together with the public and private sectors and according to the needs of the economic and technological sectors of society. This level includes talents in science and technology, philosophy and social sciences, education talents and key engineering talents. The plan aims to support 8,000 people. The third level is made up of young talent, around 35 years of age, with outstanding scientific research and technological innovation research work and important innovation potential. The plan covers at least 2,000 positions.

The first batch of “innovation in science and technology leading talent” were selected by the “Ministry of Science and Technology Innovation Talent Promotion Plan". The Philosophy and Social Sciences talents were selected by the Central Propaganda Culture Department. The Department of Human Resources and Social Security "Talents Office" chose the first talent for the National Teaching Masters Award from the Ministry of Education.

"Thousands of people plan" will be the key plan according to which all national funding will co-ordinate. The candidates receiving the funds are expected to carry out independent research, personnel training and team building, and will develop the focus on training policy in support of scientific research management, business platform, personnel system, the use of funds, evaluation, social security benefits, etc..
