About Wuhan
Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province and a modern metropolis with numerous opportunities, situated in the heart of China. Wuhan is an energetic city, a commercial and manufacturing hub featuring a variety of industries and services from financial institutions, to high tech industries, trade and science, with many international companies having offices here. Institutions such as Laser City and the Wuhan University Having made our city an important intellectual center. Situated at the crossroads of central China, Wuhan is a transportation center for air, railway as well as ferry traffic. The distance from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou is more or less equal. And the giant Yangtse River (Chang Jiang), the world's third longest river, as well as the Han River, both cross the city. With a history that dates back more than 3,500 years, Wuhan is one of the significant historical and cultural cities in China. Here and around East Lake you will find historical sites and stunning nature. The main landmark inside the city is the Yellow Crane Tower (Huáng Hè Lóu) a famous and historic tower, first built in 223 AD, standing on Sheshan (Snake Hill), at the bank of Yangtze River. Since 1927 Wuhan has comprised of three cities, Hankou, Hanyang, and Wuchang, which are located where the Han and Xunshi rivers join the Yangtze (Chan Jiang).

Wuhan University (WHU) is one of the higher education institutions with a long tradition in China.
Wuhan University is a key comprehensive national university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. The University is also one of the “211 Project” and “985 Project” universities receiving full support from the central and local government of China for research and development. With Its impressive campus environment, market-oriented disciplines, passionate faculty team and adequate resources, Wuhan University offers a bright personal development prospect, but as it is now, a bright development prospect.
Wuhan University offers degrees in 12 major fields, namely Philosophy, Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Management and Art. Over 114 majors are available to undergraduates.
Of the total number of disciplines taught at Wuhan University, 5 are A-level national key disciplines, covering 29 B-level topics and 17 are B-level national key disciplines. Wuhan University has 5 key state laboratories, 2 national engineering research centers, 8 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 national field stations for forest ecosystem research, 7 key research bases for arts and social sciences under the Ministry of Education, 10 national basic science research and teaching personnel training bases, 44 key provincial laboratories and project research centers and 32 post-doctoral research stations.
At present the university has more than 3,600 faculty members, including over 2,400 professors and associate professors, 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 9 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 3 academicians of the International Eurasian Academy of Science, 8 senior professors of arts and social sciences, 20 leading scientists part of the “National 937 Project” (including major projects for basic research), 5 Innovation Communities of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 39 winners of the “National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars”, 51 Changjiang distinguished Scholars and 15 nationally-recognized teaching members.
Wuhan University makes recruiting an international, diverse workforce one of its priorities. Many disciplines are offered in English as well as in Mandarin and most of the Master Degree programs have a strong English component.
