Art and Culture Events

Luojia Golden Fall Art Festival Luojia Golden Fall Art Festival was created in 1987 and is now the most renowned cultural activity on campus. The art festival presents a perfect integration of art competition and art appreciation.

Luojia Golden Fall International Cultural Festival Created in 2005, Luojia Golden Fall International Cultural Festival, with the international students as the main participants and having as main theme the international cultural exchange, is intended to deepen the mutual understanding between students from various countries and enhance the cultural communication between China and other countries.

Students' Associations Cultural Festival Students' Associations Cultural Festival is one of the most important brand activities of WHU Union of Students' Associations. The festival includes more than 60 activities, grand and small, among which "Cherry Blossoms Poetry Competition" and "Cherry Blossoms Pen" have an extensive influence not only within Wuhan but also in universities across the whole nation

Campus Supermarket of Cultural Activities Launched in 2003, the Campus Supermarket of Cultural Activities is a comparatively recent and fashionable activity on campus. By now, we have formed six main sections, namely, "Luojia Theatre", "Luojia Literature Saloon", "Art Arena", "Art Kaleidoscope", "Sailing in the Scientific Ocean", and "Weekend Art Gallery", under which there are in total over 30 sub-activities covering literature, art, science and technology, and social practice, etc.

    Banking

    Currency in China is Renminbi (abbreviated as RMB). The basic unit is Yuan and fractional currency is Jiao. RMB has different kinds of money forms of value such as 100 Yuan, 50 Yuan, 20 Yuan, 10 Yuan, 5 Yuan, 2 Yuan, 1 Yuan, 5 Jiao, 2 Jiao and 1 Jiao. Coins have such forms of values as 1 Yuan, 5 Jiao and 1 Jiao. Bank of China, Wuhan Commercial Bank and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China are located beside the affiliated hospital on the 1st campus (Faculty of Humanities and Sciences). On the 2nd campus (Faculty of Engineering), Bank of China and China Merchants Bank locate opposite Tianyuan Restaurant; beside Ziqiang supermarket there is an Industrial and Commercial Bank of China; China Construction Bank is beside the campus gate at Chagang. All those banks offer deposit and deposit withdrawal services in RMB and Foreign Currencies of various kinds. Passport and Residence Permit are needed to open an account. There are 7 currencies that can be exchanged including USD, EURO, etc.

    Bank of China offers the services of currency exchange (including traveler’s check and etc.) and deposit of RMB and foreign currencies. Passport and Residence Permit needs to be provided for currency exchange. For more details, please consult with banks.

    Accommodation

    Attention: Attention: According to Regulation of Foreigners' Entry and Exit in P. R. China, students should register accommodation and fill in the Registration for Provisional Accommodation after their entry. Those who reside in hotels or foreign students buildings on campus should register at hotels or College of Foreign Students Education. Those who reside in other places (including homes of local residents, inside the enterprises) should declare their accommodation to the local police station

    Registration of Provisional Accommodation should be filled in clearly and completely with proper foreign abbreviations.

    Changes in accommodation should be declared at the time. Those who have applied for Residence Permit should inform the competent authorities of any changes in their accommodation arrangement. Those who temporarily leave the places for which they registered should declare this fact to the police.

    Those who fail to complete such accommodation registrations or stay without any valid certificates will be fined 50 to 500 RMB in accordance with Regulations of Foreigners' Entry and Exit in P. R. China.

    Transportation inside the city

    Many bus routes are available around Wuhan University, so travelling by bus is very convenient. However, due to the development of Wuhan, there will be frequent changes on bus routes and bus stations. It is necessary to be aware of such changes.

    Make sure you fasten your seat belt while in a taxi and hold the rail while travelling by bus to prevent unnecessary accidents. Follow the traffic rules strictly, especially on the expressway. Keep an eye on your belongings when taking a bus.
